Here Are Four Things Realtors Can Do to Make Sure Their Closing Gift Is Remarkable

The papers are signed. Keys have been exchanged. The room is overflowing with handshakes and grateful goodbyes.

Seasoned agents will tell you there is one more step if you’re looking to make a lasting impression and improve your referral and repeat business—the closing gift.

Rock star agents will tell you that this is one of the most underutilized opportunities to break through the noise and separate yourself from the competition.

Here are some of the key components to make sure that you’re a real estate agent that seizes this important moment.

Make It Matter

Real Estate agents have fewer opportunities for client gifting programs that nurture relationships, so they need to make the most each one, particularly on purchase anniversaries and closing day. Make it remarkable, and you’re almost certain to get referrals. Make it ordinary, and they might be just as likely to refer the agent that their neighbor was telling them about who went the extra mile.

What makes a closing gift remarkable? Keep reading.

Make It About The Client

You would think this would go without saying, but you wouldn’t believe how many of our customers tell us that, in the past, they’ve given gifts that included some sort of their branding. We’ve heard about clocks with brokerage branding in the middle and cutting boards with the agents initials or logo burned into the corner as a much more subtle example.

Either way, that type of closing gift says that you’re more interested in marketing and promotion than you are in enriching their life. Skip the branding and promotion. Let the experience of working with you do the talking.

Make It Useful

The best kind of closing gift is a gift that they will use. Decorative pieces are dangerous because style trends change and unless you’ve had a chance to really get to know a client through your process, it can be difficult to pick out something they will truly display.

Instead, choose closing gifts that enhance a particular experience in the home. That leads us to our last suggestion.

Make It About the Kitchen

The kitchen is the heart of almost every home. As I’m sure you’ve found in your own business, people will pay more for a house with a great kitchen and pass on a house they absolutely love otherwise if the kitchen doesn’t meet their expectations.

A good set of knives, an artisan cutting board (without branding), or dare we suggest, a luxury set of Olive Oils with pour spouts says that you care about making their new house a home that they love living their life in, that you’re invested in their family, and that you understand what people want to feel when it’s all said and done.

That last part, that’s what leads to referrals and repeat business.

We all know that closing gifts make a difference, but when everyone starts to invest in those gifts, you have to be smarter and more remarkable than your competition. Being good is no longer good enough.

5 Things You Need from Pasolivo If You’re a Young Professional and You Love Good Food

Setting up your first house or apartment is an exciting time. It’s also a time when you quickly realize how much you don’t know and how smart your parents actually are. You may even—gasp—find yourself asking them for advice almost daily.

Maybe you’re a family member or friend who knows how hard it is to step out into the world on your own for the first time and want to encourage your young professional to eat more than microwaved meat pockets and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

Either way, we have a few items that should be a part of setting up the kitchen of anyone who loves to cook, eat, or serve up a good meal.

Press Club Membership

The best kind of purchase is the one that keeps your kitchen stocked with everything you need AND gives you a discount for all the things in between.

Let’s face it, you’re going to spend $20 a pop on avocado toast. We’re not judging you, but we are saying we could help you do a lot more with a lot less money.

625x625bakingbasics_2Baking Basics

The ABCs of Client Gift Giving for Financial Services

Sending a gift is a great way to stay front-of-mind whether you are courting a new client or letting a long-time client know that they are still an important part of your practice.

It’s our clients that keep us in business. It’s their trust, their belief, and their referrals that build our reputation and our portfolio.

If a client accounts for 60% of your managed funds through direct assets and referred business, a $25 Starbucks card is simply not enough to adequately nurture that relationship.

Financial services is a highly regulated and competitive industry, but we have found that you can find success breaking through the noise and being memorable simply by remembering your ABCs.

button (8)

(A)void Marketing and Promotional Items

The number one mistake we see from well-meaning financial professionals who give gifts is that they have their name or the name of their institutions emblazoned on the side. Once you put your name on something, it ceases to be a gift and crosses over into marketing and promotion.

You probably ask your best clients for increased investments or referrals on a semi-regular basis. Make your gift giving completely about the client. Leave your promotional items for the next business after-hours or sponsorship opportunity.

(B)e Timely and Appropriate

The best time for your clients who have served in the military to receive a special remembrance is NOT the day after Veteran’s Day. That might seem obvious, but you’d be surprised how many requests we get for client gifts a day or two before the holiday, birthday, or other hard deadline. If managing a gift-giving schedule is too taxing on you or your staff, consider partnering with a company like Pasolivo. Partnering with a company allows you to leverage their expertise, experience, and infrastructure to execute a strategy much more efficiently and effectively.

Consistency is also a key attribute of corporate giving. Everyone sends gifts at Christmas, but it shows more care and thought if you send gifts that correspond to something about the receiver. Are they Irish? Why not send something on St. Patrick’s Day? Courting your local carpenter’s union? Why not send over a memorable gift on Labor Day thanking them for their work? The key is to segment your client list and send thoughtful gifts throughout the year, not just on birthdays and Christmas.

(C)ustomize the Gift Experience

The last part of breaking through the noise and adding maximum value to the experience is to find ways to personalize the gift.

Things like personalized, handwritten notes and monogramming are great ways to let your client know that you’re thinking specifically of them. The key is to get creative so that your client knows that the gift is for them specifically and isn’t just one more address in a mass shipment.

A good corporate gift partner should be able to handle your gifting schedule, even if it is with an entire database, and should be willing to participate and accommodate this custom experience to ensure that they help you provide the best experience possible.

And, for the record, we’d really like to be that partner.

An Easy Four-Course Valentine’s Day Meal That Will Romance Your Palate

Planning a meal for Valentine’s Day when it’s on a weekend is stressful. If it’s on a Wednesday, it can lead to a state of full-blown panic. Sure, you could just celebrate on the weekend, but pulling it off on February 14th lets your partner know that they are worth a little extra time and preparation.

We applaud that kind of romantic ambition, and to reward you, have went ahead and laid out a four course meal that is easy to prep, cook, and plate any day of the week, but particularly the days that call for a little extra romance.

Click each menu item below for directions and a complete ingredient list.

The Starter

625x625strawberrysaladRomaine, Fruit and Pesto Salad

This salad brings the same bold flavor as a well-delivered pick-up-line. It’s not meant to stand on its own, but it will raise intrigue and keep your partner wondering what comes next.

Feel free to substitute you and your partner’s favorite fruits to give it that custom look and feel that lets them know you are paying attention.

 The Entree

Balsamic-Brown-Sugar-Lamb-Chops-1-570x380Lamb Chops with Blackberry Balsamic Reduction Sauce

For the main course, we’ve brought you a savory lamb chop set off by the fruity tang of a blackberry balsamic reduction that accentuates the bold flavors in the lamb for a truly balanced and memorable experience.

The Accompaniment

brus.spro_frontview_productsCrispy Smoky Roasted Brussels Sprout

Our favorite vegetable pairing with savory meat is something from the Brassica Oleracea family—broccoli, cauliflower, kale, and others all stem from that singular plant.

Of all of its family, we think that Brussels Sprout is the most underrated. If it’s been awhile since you’ve tried these sprouts, we think this would be an excellent time for you to revisit them.

The Dessert

ff672f0c61b0e11b06abd6be60504470Tangerine Olive Oil Brownies

Nothing says Valentine’s Day like dessert. Chocolate decadence is frequently on the menu, but we’ve paired that traditional flavor of cocoa with a complementing but not overpowering tangerine profile that will have you both licking your fingers and your plate.

5 Valentine’s Day Gifts from Pasolivo That Will Make Your Evening Remarkable

It seems like Valentine’s Day gifts are becoming more and more predictable. Beyond flowers, which are still mandatory, the traditional gifts are more likely to get a polite smile and “thank you” than to truly wow.

We’ve put together a list of 5 gifts from our shop that will make the heart of your health-conscious Beloved go pitter patter. We’ll leave it to you to decide whether it’s for you or the gifts.

Pasolivo Press Club Membership

This is the gift that will bring you to mind all year long. You can gift them your choice of 2 or 3 shipments of our quality products over the next 12 months. It’s perfect if your partner loves to cook, eat good food, is interested in living a healthy lifestyle, or is always looking for all-natural, locally sourced products.

The next shipment is in March, so you might want to pick up a couple small items to go along with it. If we might be so bold, we might suggest our all-natural artisan bar soap bundle or our Olio Nuovo and enough pour spouts to allow them to keep their soon-to-be very respectable EVOO collection conveniently accessible near their cooking station.

The Blend Collection

625x625theblendSometimes a little bit of flavor can make the difference in putting a dish over the top while maintaining its healthy attributes.

If your valentine loves good food but is always trying to find healthy substitutes that don’t sacrifice flavor, this is a gift they will love. A little suggestion to go along with it, offer to make dinner together once a week where you try new recipes that use the different flavors represented in the gift set.

The Extra Virgin Olive Oil Collection

625x625extravirgincollectionOur premier collection of EVOO blends are milled tree-to-table within an hour of harvesting.

Whether you’re interested in the health benefits of intense polyphenols, or you know that your partner will love the complex flavor experience that comes with fresh ingredients, our Pasolivo EVOO Collection is a can’t-miss gift for the cook or foodie in your life.

The Spicy Dipper’s Delight Collection

Valentine’s Day is about passion and infusing some heat back into relationships that sometimes get a little bland over time. Our Spicy Dipper Collection will do the same for your palate and menu.

This bundle includes the our Basil Olive Oil, Tuscan Balsamic Vinegar, and Spicy Italian seasoning that every person who craves a little heat on their plate could ask for. We even include the dedicated dipping dish. Feel free to break it out and feed each other.

The Lavender Bath and Body Collection

There are two directions to go with Valentine’s Day. You can use it to inject some passion and excitement or you can use it to pamper your partner with some much needed rest and relaxation.

If your partner would probably prefer the latter, we’ve put together a Lavender Bath and Body Collection that will be compliment a night of romantic spa experiences. Couple this with a rose petaled bath, scented candles, soft music, and of course some locally sourced Paso Robles wine and you will be sure to let your partner know that they are appreciated and loved.
